Creating an Apple ID - Errors

Hello,

I've got an old iPhone and wanted to use it for some basic tasks, nothing fancy.

So I tried to create an Apple ID.

However, I get a few error messages, never able to get beyond a certain point.

Took screenshots below.

Has anyone experienced this before?

What really gets me is that it doesn't tell you what the problem is, so I can't adjust anything. If there is a problem, I expect to be told what the issue is!

So why isn't it doing at least that?!?

And this...

And in this context, I come across the field where you input your details.

However, how do you create an Apple ID without an existing email address?

Do they really expect people to create a 3rd party email address just to open an Apple ID (which in return will gove you...an email address @icloud.com or so)?

That makes no sense to me, so what am I missing here?

Sorry for the beginner's questions. I'm actually not that new to it but this I haven't encountered before.

So hoping for some more experienced bug-fixers to reveal their secrets :)

Hi cook04,

Based on your screenshots we'd recommend testing this out using a different wireless network. You can also try your cellular network if you're able to. Regarding creating an Apple ID, you can use an existing email address or when signing into iCloud services create an iCloud.com email address. Here's some information on creating an Apple ID:

Hi,

I cannot see why it would depend on the network I use because all it needs is a network that connects and functions.

Regardless I have tried to use a different network, to eliminate all daubts.

And below is is a series of screenshots that show the steps I went through to create an icloud email address and account to get an Apple ID.

Somehow I cannot type just below the images, so they just come in the order they appear without comment.

Entries are anonymised obviously for the screehsot.

But these are the steps...ending in nirvana and Apple doesn't even tell my what the problem is!
