My iPhone is very, very hot. I shut down all of the apps, and the phone was in a cool, indoor setting. I bought this phone in May of 2019 and it is now June of 2023, does this mean I need a new phone? Will the battery blow up?

Troubleshooting an Overheating iPhone:
Perform the following:
I. Cool Down the iPhone:
For a few hours, perform the following...
2. Clear Space:
See if you need to clear lots of space. System resources may be using up too much services, making it overheat. Internal storage cannot be upgraded. It is what it is. We can't tell you whether you do or don't need a new iPhone. But we can urge you to schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and let Apple test the phone for you. They'll explain your options.

You're welcome. Regardless of other advice, you really should take your phone to Apple for testing.
