Message Says Delivered. Can still mean blocked with latest iOS?

I sent a message to someone I haven’t heard from in a while (Not typical for him!). It says Delivered. I thought for sure this means I haven’t been blocked. But then I saw online on a reputable site that with the latest Software, iOS 16.5, it still could mean you’re blocked, even if it says Delivered!! I hope this isn’t true!! Is it?! I called Apple & they haven’t heard of this. Thanks in advance!

Here’s what I mean. Attached is from an article saying that now, with the latest versions of Software even if it says Delivered you may have been blocked. This was NEVER the case before. As before, if it said Delivered then you were 100% NOT blocked. In fact, if the bubble stayed blue & it DIDN’T say Delivered, THEN you knew you were blocked before. I was merely asking if this article about the latest Software having changed this is true! :)

Have issues with someone who is special to me. I didn’t do nothing wrong. Can’t understand why people can be cold hearted. Anyways my msg says delivered to this girl but then I tried to msg someone else that I think I am blocked and it only shows a blue bubble. So my conclusion is that I am NOT blocked. Unless there is some sort of glitch going on. My advice is that I won’t msg her to respect her distance and I would suggest the same for other people who are sending multiple msg. Then you can potentially be blocked for being annoying. I know it hurts but I am thinking of moving on. I hope this helps someone.

I already know that when you block someone they can leave a voicemail & that you don’t get a ring though. It goes in a special blocked callers place, did you know? It’s not what I asked. And I can also provide many links as well as I’ve done extensive research and I already said that I already found out he didn’t block me. The fact that it said Delivered and it was a blue message with it, and the fact that he called me to tell me why he left for 12 days, the death, was a tip off too lol. He respected me for giving him space and called me too.

This issue is resolved and I learned from Apple people top that he didn’t block me. And by him himself lol

I believe it's always been delivered. And you as the sender, will NEVER know you've been blocked as it's up to the recipient to accept or NOT accept messages from whoever they want or don't want to receive them from. This is nothing new.

Your plan of if a voice message immediately goes to voicemail, doesn't mean anything. He could have Do Not Disturb enabled.

This is between you and him. We can't help with relationship things here.

Thank you! But I have to go by what Apple people said. You can for sure know if you’ve been blocked if it goes from one ring straight to voicemail only from your phone (versus straight to voicemail!). Of course it’s up to a person if they want to block though! And as my message was blue and it said Delivered under it it makes it also without a question that he didn’t block me. Not just as he called me to tell me. I’m not sure why you are disagreeing with all I’ve been told and read. My question was only if it’s true this might’ve changed with the new Software! Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Thanks

No, that doesn't necessarily tell you that you have been blocked. It could be that the person you're calling saw the caller ID and sent you to voice mail because they were busy at that moment.

That’s actually inaccurate. I was blocked by someone, (iMessages), and it showed “~blocked by user~” immediately upon them blocking me, and with every message thereafter that I attempted to send. That was a while ago. Maybe it changed, as I am no longer blocked. Also, if it stated delivered, the recipient did receive the message. But as stated by others, unless they have the “Read” receipts checked, there’s no way to know if they looked at your message.
