can't subscribe to a podcast (iTunes store temporarily unavailable)

I recently "merged" two libraries - creating a few "doubles" (podcasts only) in the process. After cleaning that up, at least one podcast was missing completely.

I go to the iTunes store, search for the podcast again ... when I click "subscribe", i get the "There was a temporary problem completing your request (iTunes store is temporarily unavailable ...)" message.

I have ... checked my connection & Apple's "system status" page, restarted both iTunes and the computer, verified the time & date is set to auto update, deleted cookies (in both ...\Roaming\Apple

Computer\iTunes\Cookies and ...\Roaming\Apple Computer\Cookies, verified iTunes is up to date, ... and as I have seen a "-45054 error" as well (might be related, might be not), I also deleted the C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\iTunes\adi folder and restarted everything for good measure.

The problem persists.

I can see the podcast in the podcast app on my iPhone ... it shows that I am "following" - so I unfollowed (keep all episodes) and followed again ... still no luck after I connect to iTunes again.

I am fresh out of ideas ... and would REALLY love some help.

Hello hauker,

Thanks for the error -45054, we're happy to help.

Try these steps from here: If you see a -45054 or -42110 error in iTunes - Apple Support

Let us know if it fixes both issues, neither, or just something else.

For iTunes unavailable, also check it's not blocked by third-party security: Resolve issues between iCloud for Windows or iTunes and third-party security software - Apple Support

Thanks.

I'm also getting:

There was a temporary problem completing your request.

The iTunes store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.

.. when trying to subscribe to a new podcast with iTunes for Windows. The podcast is newly released and not already subscribed by me. This has been happening for days. I don't have an error code because it doesn't give one.

Thank you, Eric.

To be clear, the -45054 error does NOT occur when trying to subscribe to a podcast ... those two things appear to be unrelated. (And as mentioned in my post, I already followed all the steps in the article you posted.)

I also looked at hte 2nd article you posted, but I am nut sure it applies: I CAN log in using my apple ID (just updated my iOS via iTunes using it).

I did, however, have a problem w iCloud ... I got a "couldn't upgrade (error 101)" message and iCloud appeared to be defunct ... but after following this thread, I managed to get it running again.

But the problem ("There was a temporary problem completing your request (iTunes store is temporarily unavailable ...)" message) ... still perists.

Hi

I've been having exactly the same issue. No error codes, just the same as everyone else .....

"A temporary problem completing your request. The iTunes store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later".

It will let me download individual episodes of podcasts if I search for them, but not able to subscribe to any new one at all.

Been driving me crazy .. done all the checks .. and now pleased it's not just me.
