How does MacOS handle transferring files from One External to another External HDD? Does it affect native SSD's TBW (life span)?

Curious as to how MacOS handles the data transfer between two external HDDs plugged into my MBP M1 Max.

Does transferring files from One External HDD to Another External HDD use the MacBook Pro's native SSD in the process? OR does the exchange happen between the external drives and SSD is saved from wasting read/writes, saving the lifespan of SSD cells?

Data is copied directly without being temporarily stored in the internal SSD.

Even if it were not: fears of an SSD early demise have been greatly exaggerated.

You have no reason to worry about the lifespan of your SSD. Even though, as any electronic contraption, it may fail, it will typically outlast your mac.
