Cannot send emails - but receive OK

My 'mail' app on my iMac cannot send. I have to go to my provider's website and send via webmail. Emails send perfectly well from there; proving that the account is OK, with a correct password. After a month of hints and tips from them, I still no further on. The last 'tip' was to delete the account and install it again.

Tried that and get 'account not authorised' . . . or something similar.

They have sent me an email with lots of 'settings: IMAP, POP3, SMTP server, outgoing port SMTP TLS, etc, etc.

Make sure your security settings are set up to enable TLS, or SSL if not available.

All this may as well be in Chinese to me.

Any ideas please?

I'll ask your eMail addy be edited out.

Did you set it up for IMAP using...

If you're not sure, we'd suggest you use IMAP, it's the most common choice as many people use more than one device and email account.

What settings do I need for my mail client or device?

  1. Username – this is your full email address
  2. Password – your chosen email password
  3. Incoming mail server IMAP or POP3: mail.uwclub.net
  4. Incoming port IMAP: 993 or POP3: 995
  5. Outgoing mail SMTP server: mail.uwclub.net
  6. Outgoing port SMTP TLS: 587 or SSL: 465
  7. Make sure that your security settings are set-up to enable TLS (or SSL if not available)

Especially the outgoing ports‽

i have been with UW Club for 20 years and all of a sudden 3 weeks ago I can’t send emails unless I sign into webmail. I had a request to change my password a few weeks or a couple of months ago and now can’t send on desktop Microsoft, iPad or iPhone. You speak to them and all they do is give you the log in info which you can get online. All the tech people seem to be non first language British people. It is driving me mad. Why has it all gone up the creek lately? I spoke to my computer tech guys and they say because it is happening both with windows and Apple it must be something in the UW side of things!!!
