stuck on welcome screen / screen saver

Hi My Apple TV is stuck on the initial welcome screen and will not progress beyond the "continue" button. I have unplugged and plugged in the device with the same results. It was working previously. If I wait the screen goes into the screen saver. I also did remove and replug the HDMI cable. If someone can point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated. thanks.
