apple pay

I am trying to add my sons Halifax debit card to apple pay on his new iphone 11. All apps are up to date and iOS is 16.5.1 (the latest update) when I go to wallet on his iphone 11 and enter all the details of his card I follow all the instructions but then says "card not added contact your card issuer for more information". So I contacted Halifax, they said to contact Apple and ask them to lift all the Policy declines! So I contacted Apple and Apple said there are no restrictions on his account and I need to contact Visa. Contacted Visa and they said I need to speak to Apple! I am exasperated . I have been trying to solve this issue for the past 5 hours, I have been passed on to so many people and companies! But still no resolution!

This issued occurred when I gave my son my old iphone 11 as I received an upgrade from mobile network provider. I set the iphone 11 back to factory settings and set up again using my sons Apple ID. (all apps, address book etc etc are working fine)

I have been able to add Natwest Mastercard debit card to his Apple Pay on the iphone 11 but not the Halifax debit card.

Can anyone offer any advice for setting up Apple Pay for his Halifax Visa Debit Card as I can't seem to get any answers from Halifax, Apple or Visa!!

I understand the help issue. The card is not the issue. When you try to add a card the verification process begins. Apple iPhone contacts Halifax for verification that the card and iPhone are identified and ownership is verified. You bank receives encrypted data and then contacts the iPhone for the card owner to respond to.

Halifax will either text, email or voice call the contact information they have on file. Is your son's contact information with the bank current? Has he responded to the verification contact from the bank?

I've got a similar issue. Actually Apple Pay does no longer works. Once I access settings it says Apple Pay Issue Detected and a little 1 in red circle and then it says your iPhone is currently unable to use Apple Pay. This issue started when I tried to upgrade to I.O.S. 16.5.1. What happened was when trying to upgrade through my phone using wi-fi, my iPhone 11 Pro remained at Verifying Update and it kept on turning and nothing happened so I did the value up and down and then press button on the right until it shutdown and the apple logo reappeared. Then tried again to download the 16.5.1 but same thing happened. So I decided to set the phone as a new phone and resetted it factory settings log back in and once again the message. This time I erased al my banking info credit cards and what not and the I also took the home button by going into accessibility and did a cache reset but to no avail Apple Pay does not work and freezes at all times whether on settings or in the App itself. So I decided to upgrade to 16.5.1 from my MacBook connecting my phone to it. So from then I resetted my phone 2 more times ended calling apple we did a screen sharing over the phone and did analytic and diagnostic report from the setting but it did not work as they could not get the info from the analysis and diagnostic. My region is set in Canada and all but still. Funny thing is Apple Pay will work on all other phones even The Se second generation. I am thinking maybe there is a glitch with that update 16.5.1 that renders Apple Pay on iPhone 11 obsolete and or just destroys something. They've booked me an appointment with a Tech at an Apple Store tomorrow which I will go and see if there is something they'll be able to do. I am not having much confidence but from my search we are not the only ones having this issue mainly with iPhone's 11. Is it a tactic to force us to buy new phones or is it just a coding anomaly that is causing this issue with Apple Pay only on iPhones 11 maybe because of how their infrastructure is set up. we'll see what happens

Your issue was probably caused by an error when your iPhone was in the verifying step. When you restarted, the iPhone glitched and defective software was used for the update. I believe you’d have to do a total restore of your iPhone erasing all data. You may be able to downgrade to a lower iOS and then try updating again. You might try posting about this in the iPhone community.

So sorry for late reply, I have just seen your message. Firstly I have checked region settings and both the region on my sons iPhone and region on his Apple Pay account are both set to United Kingdom. So this is not the problwm.

Once again I have contacted Halifax bank and there are no issues with my sons bank card. Also I have added his card to my wallet on my iPhone 13 and the card has been added without a problem. This is why Halifax say I need to contact Apple.

I have contacted apple many times and they keep saying my complaint seeds to escalated. I arranged a call back from Apple on the 22nd August at 5.30pm, but unfortunately I was still at work.

I was informed than senior support is only available until 5.30pm. However I am usually at work at this time.

I do not want to call the missed number showing on my iphone and in my voicemail messages as calls from the UK to ireland are really expensive.

Any ideas?
