Macbook pro Internet recovery not working

Hi,


I was preparing my 2020 Macbook pro (Intel) for sale using the "Erase all content and settings" program. I wanted to reinstall a clean MacOS and since the "Erase all content", the Macbook starts immediately in "Internet Recovery" mode. I can choose a Wifi and it starts the recovering process and my Wifi access point shows some traffic. After 20-30 min it ends with an ! in the rotating globe and an error message support.apple.com/mac/startup -2003F or -2005F.

So I tried to create a bootable USB device and boot from this, but whatever key I press (hold Option key while booting or "Command + R") during boot, I always end up at the Internet Recovery mode.


So any ideas?

As written in my above statement, any key combination is not working. So is the mentioned Command + R in the article. The computer ALWAYS just starts Internet Recovery and when I shut down by long pressing the on/off switch, it immediately starts up again and drains the battery until empty. So the article is useless. Any article describing any kind of Key combination is useless, as I can't get this far.

what version of MacOS did it offer you? the latest? or the original when-released version?


How to reinstall macOS - Apple Support


if you get a negative low-thousands error message, it says your Wi-Fi was inadequate for some reason. You could try:

moving it closer to your router.

obtaining an Ethernet adapter and cabling direct to your Router.

Use a different network, that does not require a login page, such as the one at the Apple store.

In Internet Recovery, these low negative thousands error messages indicate that your provided Wi-Fi Network is inadequate in some fashion, and cannot be used (for this purpose) in its current state.


Common problems include:

Hidden Network-name

required use of a proxy server to get Internet access

required use of a login page to get Internet access

Use of a login server or certificate to get Internet access

Use of PPPoE in the Mac to get Internet access (typically only applies to DSL)

Use of Fixed IP address rather than good old DHCP

Variance of the time by more than five minutes

Failure of Router to provide workable DNS server addresses, or providing 0.0.0.0 [may produce -2002f]


If you have an Ethernet port, you may in some cases be able to move your Mac close to the Router and connect to the Router using Ethernet.


The higher the number, the more obscure the problem.
