MLS Season Pass: Hide Scores AND Highlights - Feature Suggestions

Hello Apple.

Please let us address a few areas for improvement in your MLS Season Pass experience.

Premise:

  • Most customers and fans of the MLS are fans following primarily a certain team, their local one.
  • These fans want to watch all of their team's games.
  • They cannot watch them all live.
  • When they visit MLS Season Pass, they usually want to watch the most recent game.
  • They don't want any part of any game they missed to be spoiled.

Problem(s):

  • It is too difficult to find the full replays of recorded games.
  • By default, Apple TV shows scores for all recorded games.
  • It is difficult to find where to disable that.
  • It has to be disabled on every device a customer uses to watch Apple TV.
  • When using a new device, say, when traveling to an AirBnB, it is often difficult to get to the settings to disable scores before passing by some spoiler for the game a customer wants to watch.
  • Even if you do manage to turn of all the scores, often the Goal Highlights give away the result anyhow.

Solutions:

  • Let disabling sports scores be an account level setting.
  • Let this toggle be visible immediately under the "User Icon" in the primary nav.
  • Let the account default be user selected the first time they log into Apple TV.
  • Reorganize the navigation experience so the most recent full-game replays are above the fold.
    • Above "Up Next" put "Most Recent Matchday"... and just list all the games there with a link to full replay.
    • When clicking into a specific team, let the Hero Banner be the most recent game, with a chronological list of the past games below that.
    • Do not show highlights above the fold on the home page or on the team page!
  • Move the highlights down, or group them under a separate page, so that even if a user scrolls down, they don't spoil the game they want to watch.

Hope this helps... perhaps form a focus group of hardcore MLS fans to help you design a better fan experience.
