Photo stops importing iPhoto at 24%

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities about issues with importing photos. If you are running macOS Sierra 10.12 still, your computer should have macOS Photos app, not iPhoto.

You can also choose to use iCloud if you prefer: Overview of importing photos and videos into Photos on Mac - Apple Support

If you want to manually import them, issues with a Photo or group can cause import issues. You can try importing 10 or 25 at a time, and if that group of 10 stops, then do each one individually. See which one that is causing it, and avoid it.

Alternatively, with a Mac, many people try using Image Capture as an alternative if they have random issues with Photos. Use Image Capture to transfer images - Apple Support

It has been rare, if ever, that an issue with Photos is also stopping Image Capture to import photos and vice versa.

If you still have issues, please let us know if it worked in Image Capture, and any alerts or error codes you are seeing. Also, try another Mac port, and ensure you are using an Apple official cable, as well as try another cable, in case the issue is within the cable: Identify counterfeit or uncertified Lightning connector accessories - Apple Support
