If your iPad gets stuck or experiences issues while using the Photos app with an Apple keyboard, you can try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the problem:

  1. Restart your iPad: Press and hold the power button until the "slide to power off" slider appears. Slide it to turn off your iPad. Once it's off, press and hold the power button again until the Apple logo appears to restart your device. Restarting can often resolve temporary software glitches.
  2. Update iOS and the Photos app: Ensure that your iPad is running the latest version of iOS and that the Photos app is up to date. Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check for any available updates. If an update is available, download and install it.
  3. Disconnect and reconnect the keyboard: If you're using an Apple keyboard with your iPad, disconnect it and then reconnect it. Unplug the keyboard from your iPad and then plug it back in. This action can help re-establish the connection and resolve any connectivity issues.
  4. Reset keyboard settings: Go to Settings > General > Reset and choose "Reset Keyboard Dictionary." This action resets the keyboard dictionary on your iPad and can fix any issues related to keyboard inputs.
  5. Close and reopen the Photos app: Double-press the home button (or swipe up from the bottom on iPads without a home button) to access the app switcher. Swipe left or right to find the Photos app preview and swipe it up or off the screen to close the app. Then, go back to the home screen and relaunch the Photos app.
  6. Disconnect other accessories: If you have any other accessories connected to your iPad, such as external storage devices or adapters, disconnect them and see if the issue persists. Sometimes, conflicting accessories can cause performance problems.
  7. Reset all settings: If the issue continues, you can try resetting all settings on your iPad. Go to Settings > General > Reset and select "Reset All Settings." This action resets all settings to their factory defaults, but it doesn't delete your data.

If the problem still persists after trying these steps, it's advisable to contact Apple Support for further assistance. They can provide more specific troubleshooting guidance based on your iPad model and iOS version to help resolve the issue.

You’ve clearly found a consistent bug.

You would be well advised to submit a Bug Report to Apple via its Product Feedback portal. For iPad and iPadOS:

Feedback - iPad - Apple

Every report counts - as until Apple receive a sufficient number or reports, it is perhaps unlikely that resources will be assigned to investigate and resolve the issue.

When submitting a report, ensure that you include as much detail as possible within the body of the report - including your iPad model and installed version of iPadOS; don’t rely upon the pick-list, as this rarely includes the full range of device models or most recent versions of iOS/iPadOS.

I can tell you I have done every single step you mentioned. I even visited in Apple Shop here in Finland/ Turku. We tested all the iPads they have in there and the keyboards too. And they all stucked!

The issue exist only with iPad and Apples keyboard, no matter which model or what software. Just ask you to check yours too.

After the Photo app is stucked, it does not responce before you start the program again. App works fine by touching the display, the problem is the touchpad in Apples keyboard.

I have an iPad Pr 11 inch with an Apple Magic Keyboard. Is that what you mean by an Apple Keyboard? I'm not seeing this. How are you moving between Years, Months and Days? Are you using the trackpad to select and then clicking using the trackpad?

Well I don´t know if this Magic or what, but yes, just clicking trackpad the years, month, days and all. After few clicking the program will stuck and you can not use trackpad or fingers anymore. After that you have to close the app (by fingers or by trackpad; both works) and open the app again.

And really, all the iPads at the shop were acting exactly the same. I was testing them with the service manager and he was as amazed as I am.

Later I was telling the story some friends, and they started to remember same kind of issues when useing iPad+Photo+keyboard.

I have had iPad Pro 12” (5.gen) since it was published, and keyboard too. And I´m quite sure the problem was there already then.

Yeah, that's what I did and no problems. It may be related to the localization. I'm in the U.S., so my iPad is set to English (US). Sometimes that can make a difference.

Ouch! Makes me think is it possible to change location? I would try if it’s possible.

You think it’s the language? Because I tested the problem also by turning the wi-fi, mobileconnection off, and aeroplane mode on. … didn’t help.

Honestly, I wouldn't. Changing your language may mess up all sorts of other things.
