How do I retrieve only the text message back up from my old iPhone 12 Pro Max into my new iPhone 14 pro max? I already backed up everything else

You may not select a portion of an iOS backup to restore. You either restore the entire backup or none of the backup.
If you choose to restore your iCloud backup:
Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup
Note if you house your messages in iCloud, they are not saved in your backup.
