Iphone - Browser blockage / Restrictions on certain websites

Hello,

I have been experiencing issues such as restrictions and blockages when trying to access certain websites to manage the security of my account through my iPhone. Currently, I'm using iPhone 12, and even after the latest software update (16.5.1), and after reading some of the community tips (such as not using screen time to restrict permissions, enabling Wi-fi, I am still stuck with why I cannot access these two important sites to manage the security of my Apple ID and its associated devices. Both the Appleid.Apple.Com and iCloud.Com, are restricted. I believe someone has access to my account. And for the record, these restrictions are only on my iPhone. I tried to access it through Safari and even on Google to see if its browser issue, and both are restricted. Any help is appreciated in advance!

PS. - If there is any previous articles that discusses topics of browser restrictions especially relating to iPhone , please do send it my way too. I am in need to see this light at the other tunnel and vice versa!

Thanks!

If you feel an unauthorized person/app is remotely using, controlling or monitoring your device, then that is possible only if you have done one or more of the following Don'ts...

  1. Don't hand over an iPhone to kids or to a stranger without Enabling Guided Access
  2. Don't share Apple IDs
  3. Don't Jailbreak
  4. Don't share sensitive information pertaining to your device
  5. Don't give in to Phishing
  6. Don't plug in your device in Airports and Public places through third-party cables and trust the device. Beware of Juice Jacking. (Especially in India)
  7. Don't leave your iPhone unlocked and unattended in public places like offices, schools, malls, etc.

If one of the above is true then quickly change the Apple ID Password and Return iPhone settings to their defaults.

Erase your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and restore it to factory settings

  1. Go to Settings > General > Reset, then tap Erase All Content and Settings.
  2. Enter your passcode or Apple ID password.
  3. Wait for all content to be safely removed from your device.

Do not restore from a backup becuase the restrictions will be back after you restore

Hello,
after the latest software update (16.5.1),

Updating iOS on your iPhone should not change your personal details. iOS updates primarily focus on improving system performance, introducing new features, fixing bugs, and enhancing security. They are designed to preserve your personal data, settings, and information intact.

During an iOS update, your device's operating system is upgraded, but your personal data, such as contacts, photos, messages, and other information, should remain unchanged. However, it's always a good practice to perform a backup of your device before any major update to ensure that your data is safely stored.

It's important to note that while an iOS update itself should not alter personal details, it's possible that certain features or settings may be adjusted or improved with the update. In such cases, you may need to review and adjust specific settings to match your preferences after the update.

Always make sure to read and understand the update details provided by Apple before proceeding with an iOS update, and follow best practices such as backing up your device to minimize any potential risks or complications.

If the issues you mentioned are indeed caused by iOS, it's likely that numerous users who have upgraded to iOS 16.4.1 (a) or 16.5 or 16.5.1 are experiencing similar problems. However, in order for the community on this forum to provide helpful responses, it would be beneficial for you to specify the nature of the issue you are encountering. Without this information, it may be difficult for others to address your concern effectively.

With the limited information that you have provided, It is hard to even guess the problems faced by you.

I was a long-time user of "Android" phones. Only about a year or so ago, I came on the iPhone bandwagon. And the marketing is true, as even with that issue with the browser, iPhone's still reigns in the leader of respecting your privacy on any device.

And yes, I have learned my two bff's when it comes to iPhone usage and managing the security of my account to check at Appleid.apple.com / Icloud.com. - That's why it was important for me to get this browser issue fixed on my phone. And such a big relief!

Hi Sravankra,

Thank you for your reply, tips and suggestions! This is a new phone I got not too long ago. The only change I've made was updating the software to the latest IOS version. The phone has been in my possession. The issue still remains where, there is restriction of accessing those sites on my phone. If this is the case, is my account comprised? In the case of using my Apple ID and reseting my password, I am still encountering the same issue. I've tried getting help with Apple Support and spent over an hour with an agent who cannot help me troubleshoot either.

Hello again Sravankra,

Just to update, I took your advice and went ahead, even though its a new phone without any data in the phone, I've decided to try erasing the phone to see if this will fix the browser issue. When getting a new phone, I normally like to configure the settings to make it less (discoverable to my unknown cyber friends :) but this time I did not, with the exception of always turning off my location settings. I'm happy to report that it worked for me as with the previous software update and me coming back to erasing the phone, I was able to open up both the ICloud.Com & the AppleID.Apple.Com within my phone!

What did I do?????

I took the leap of faith and decided to erase the phone, since there's not much data on the new phone. First, I went back into my old Apple ID (on a computer), remove my phone number associated with that account. Then, go into my phone to erase it all and restart fresh! I believe that (previous) AppleID was comprised. So the latest software update (16.5.1) works to fix this bug I believe. Thank you and GBA!

Happy Fourth!!

So, with the help, tips and reading through this community forum and voicing my concerns here, I am so relieved I was able to resolve this issue!!!! Yay

Hello Lawrence Finch,

Not using a VPN on that phone. I do believe someone has been following my account though. As after dissociating the old AppleID from the phone number, it worked. I also did a private relay with the old Apple ID too just to see. I believed I was tracked by some unknown entity (don't want to use the H word..)
