Malfunctioning dock icons on Macbook Air M2 2022

Is magnification on the dock? This could cause the Dock to resize moments before you hover over it, bringing another app into focus when you click on it. If it is, try turning off magnification, and even group some shortcuts together in a folder, and dragging the folder next to the trash can. You can launch those programs from the Dock while at the same time be able to see and access all the applications easily. It can be really problematic when you have too many icons on the dock for the screen size.

Does it only happen when specific applications are running?

Does it only happen if you take the Mac into kiosk mode (removing the menubar) with a specific application or not?

I hope so too. I had to do a factory restore to get it to work but sometimes I find it is always something I load that breaks the operating system. :) I can't wait for the next OS upgrade.
