Resetting network settings was for me the fix (disconnects on Hyundai Ioniq 5 wired carplay connection): go to Settings \ General \ Transfer or Reset iPhone \ Reset \ Reset Network Settings.

Be sure to also remove the car in the Carplay menu (Settings \ General \ Carplay) and when you add it again, check if the slider is activated for 'Allow CarPlay While Locked).

Also be sure that in Screen Time (Settings \ Screen Time \ Content & Privacy Restrictions) the content & privacy restrictions slider is activated and that Carplay an allowed app is.

Hi, I had the same issue (VW Golf VII & iPhone 14 Pro) and tried setting, different cables etc. Now I managed to fix it by disconnecting F-Secure VPN. When Carplay connection is established succesfully and you turn VPN on again the whole car system freeze. So can't use VPN in car until this issue is fixed.

Same setup with iPhone 12 mini and there wasn't any problem.

This worked! I've been chasing connectivity issues with iPhone 14 connected to 2021 and 2023 Chevy Silverado for months. The Carplay Bluetooth connection to the vehicle dropped randomly on both vehicles. I tried everything, but by doing this procedure IN ORDER, fixed everything.. THANK YOU!

If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions. If Content & Privacy Restrictions is on, tap Allowed Apps, and make sure that CarPlay is enabled. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car.

I FIXED MINE!! I have been so annoyed with my Apple CarPlay, constantly disconnecting for years! Like everyone else here, I tried everything I could think of or on forums like this. This specific comment, saying the issue happens when it connects via Bluetooth, gave me an idea. I know this type of setting for Apple CarPlay on our phone still doesn’t exist. BUT, it does exist on the car side! I went to the settings in my car, and went to my Bluetooth connections and just disabled the connection all together. IT WORKED!!! Of course, the setting location and capabilities are different in every car. Just give it a Goog for your year and model. I hope this helps someone out there :)

So... I think I have a theory on why CarPlay keeps disconnecting. I'm using an Android head unit for my car and I'm able to use CarPlay on it. But it would randomly disconnect for no reason, I troubleshooted a bunch of things, and started from scratch and ended up buying some new short braided USB A to Lightning cables off Amazon. When I started using the new cable, CarPlay was working extremely well, no connection issues, I was able to plug and play no problem. I use Waze as my main GPS through CarPlay, and often the speedometer in the Waze app would randomly disappear, I would need to pull over, kill the app on my phone and try again. I then found that if I unplug the USB cable either from my phone or the USB A port, then plug it back in, the speedometer reappeared and I could go on driving.

BUT... this is where things started to get worse. I would have to unplug the USB A port multiple times over a number of weeks for the Waze speedometer to come back. But then my phone would randomly start disconnecting again, I found that whenever I went over a speed bump or I even touched the USB cable it would disconnect. Thankfully when I bought the USB A to Lightning cable it came with 2 cables... so I ended up getting the 2nd cable and trying that for CarPlay... to my surprise, everything has been working fine again, once I started using the 2nd cable. I live in Australia and it's currently a hot summer, I thought maybe the heat might have damaged the cable somehow, but then I realised... Ever since I started unplugging the cable mid drive to get Waze's speedometer back, thats when I started having the disconnection issues.

So my theory is, that when I'm driving and I unplug the cable, it is somehow doing damage to the USB cable which is causing the phone to disconnect. I'm now experimenting, if I wait till the car is turned off the unplug my iPhone, maybe it won't cause the cable port to damage so easily. It's kinda like when your computer encourages you to eject the USB safely, rather than just pulling it out at random. I reckon that when I unplug my iPhone whilst the car is on, it is causing the cable to damage in either the USB A or Lightning sides of the cable, and in turn causing my CarPlay to randomly disconnect.

I encourage people in this forum to buy a brand new USB A or C to Lightning or USB C to USB C (iPhone 15) cables and try again. Only unplug the iPhone once the car is turned off. See what happens, I'll keep you all up to date to see how the experiment goes for me. Hope this helps.

I had this problem recently with CarPlay in our 2019 Subaru and I had never had that issue before. Changing the USB cable didn't help. My wife wasn't having this issue. Her phone was an iPhone 13 and mine is a 14 Pro Max.

The problem seems to have disappeared for me after the next software update was released. It might be worth backing up your phone, reinstalling the system software, and restoring everything else from a backup.

Do you know someone else who has an iPhone on a different version of IOS? If they are not having the issue in your vehicle, that might provide a clue that something in the IOS version is borked before you go through a reinstall.

I work for an ISP and after a month and a half of testing, we’ve concluded interference at three specific sites to also be the problem. There’s some limited information we’ve been able to dig up online about Apple suggesting that car manufacturers change the wireless band to 5 ghz from the more common 2.4 on their media consoles to solve the problem, but they do not seem to be following that suggestion yet. I myself live in a rural area and encounter this issue at Agricultural, Solar and some Wind Turbine sites. When I’m in the city, I do not have the wireless disconnect issue. The only way to get CarPlay to work is to completely turn off Bluetooth and WiFi on our phones and plug into the car via usb prior to starting the vehicle.

Same problem here with iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max in a Land Rover Discovery Sport 2020 which has USB-A connection using certified cable Belkin USB-A to USB-C. My issue is quite different because my connection disconnect and reconnect not randomly but constantly like 5 secons ok and then ko, then 5 seconds againg and ko. But I realized this is only happening when the phone battery is under 50% or so, If it is over it, there is no problem and work constantly well.

Your device is probably not connected to the internet or is not stable. There are a few steps you can take to verify the connectivity of your device.

Firstly, you can open a web browser on your device. When you open a web browser, the initial page that loads is typically based on your browsing history or cookies. To further confirm the connection, you can tap on any link on that website. If the link opens and displays the corresponding content, it confirms that your device is indeed connected to the internet.

Another method to check internet connectivity is by opening a specific application that requires an internet connection. WhatsApp is an example of such an application. When you launch WhatsApp, it immediately attempts to establish a connection with its servers to synchronize your chats and display any new messages. If you can see your chat conversations and receive real-time updates, it indicates that your device is connected to the internet.

Connecting to Wi-Fi is the initial step, followed by establishing an internet connection.

However, it's important to note that connecting to Wi-Fi does not automatically guarantee an internet connection. In the event that you are unable to connect to Wi-Fi, the issue may stem from settings on your iPhone or the router/modem.

On the other hand, if you are unable to establish an internet connection despite being connected to Wi-Fi, the problem is likely related to the settings on your router/modem. In such cases, it is advisable to promptly contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for assistance.

Check your WiFi Router / Modem for --> Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points ...

For your Internet connection.

  • Over Cellular: contact your Carrier (Cellular Service Provider). The agency that issued the SIM to you
  • Over WiFI: Contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider), the agency that provided the Internet Service on your Modem/Router to you

CarPlay has stopped working for three of us over the last few days using an usb cord. It will only work by wireless. I've spent hours on it and the phone will not connect via a usb cord like it always did. It now will only connect if I open wireless and connect that way. I don't understand why they did this. I've tried three cords and that is not it. I really think IOS 17 has screwed up a ton of things. I've had nothing but problems since "upgrading" to 17.
