Resetting network settings was for me the fix (disconnects on Hyundai Ioniq 5 wired carplay connection): go to Settings \ General \ Transfer or Reset iPhone \ Reset \ Reset Network Settings.

Be sure to also remove the car in the Carplay menu (Settings \ General \ Carplay) and when you add it again, check if the slider is activated for 'Allow CarPlay While Locked).

Also be sure that in Screen Time (Settings \ Screen Time \ Content & Privacy Restrictions) the content & privacy restrictions slider is activated and that Carplay an allowed app is.

Magically after getting a new iPhone 15 Plus and getting the latest updates (iOS 17.1.1) CarPlay is working in my 2019 Subaru Forester just like it’s supposed to. After the last update I also had updates to install to my car. I don’t know if it was the new phone, the combined iOS updates, or the auto updates that fix the problem… Or, maybe a combination of all of that. But for now, at least, until Apple breaks it again, everything is working as advertised.

I have the exact same problem with my 2021 Kia Seltos. I’ve determined that it has to be signal interference from some kind of WiFi device that has been boosted to a level not approved by the FCC. In one location it appears to be coming from a cell tower that is very low—about 30 feet higher than the freeway overpass where it’s located. In another location, it happens in a densely populated neighbor of apartments. Kia blames Apple and vice versa. I have to turn off CarPlay as I approach the location. If not, the system goes down, and I have to shut the car and phone down for at least 10 minutes for the problem to go away.

Seems this issue is ongoing and getting worse by the iOS update. I have iPhone 12 and changed the cable. Had Honda do a factory data reset on the 2019 Honda Fit Sport. Had to reboot the Honda’s radio. I just scheduled to have Apple Genius Bar look at my charging port just as a precaution because I had something else not work correctly. But after reading through some of the responses here, it sounds like it is a glitch in Apple’s software.

I have the same problem on a 14 Pro Max running iOS 17.03. Over a variety of MFI certified USB cables the phone connects then disconnects then connects again - all within seconds. So can’t use Car Play at all. This connection issue doesn’t occur when charging via USB - only when trying to access CarPlay. Apple: please don’t just ignore this issue.

I have 2021 and 2019 Tahoes that are having issues with the wireless CarPlay since the ios17 upgrade. Well, the 2021 is wireless CarPlay and the 19 is just bluetooth. The 2021 is dropping the the connection about 15-20 seconds into the call. Switches back to the phone for a period of time. Then goes back onto the phone. You can see the messages on the screen. The 2019 does does not respond when you push and hold the voice button. The Siri logo sits there with no response- no ding...nothing. If I reset the phone, it may work once or twice then stop. No issues with either on the ios16....sigh. I am at the latest- 17.1.2. Disconnected and reset things a few times with both vehicles. Obviously didn't fix anything. Even tried the 'change the language' trick in the Tahoe menus. Since GM hasn't updated any software on either platform in some time (researched it), I am going to pin this on Apple.

I have this problem also. I just purchased a Rav4 2 months ago and never had a connection issue with my Iphone 14 Pro Max on any vehicle. I've been testing to find out why it disconnects and since I'm a Network tech, my tools are for wireless is limited on certain bands. I've narrowed it down to interference associated at one intersection near my home. This intersection has a schools fiber connection, a home with solar panels and a traffic control box. If I drive past and don't stop at the light then I am sometimes ok. depending on my speed of passing the intersection, otherwise I disconnect each time I try to pass. So far my wireless tests comes back to say that its maybe a specific frequency that is interfering with the Rav4's system but 3 friends of mine with Toyotas Says that they get disconnected at the same intersection also. I'm still testing to see if I can pinpoint the exact problem cause it happens in other parts of the city also. I know that its interference, but not sure from what...... Strange

Yes - I too can narrow it down to a specific intersection. Every day, guaranteed - Carplay takes a hit / disconnects. I'm just playing local music from my phone, so there is no dependency on streaming or otherwise

The only way to avoid the issue is to hardware via USB. That's not really fixing the issue with wireless Carplay though.

My Ariya has a built in Wireless Modem - for emergency calls, car tracking and other services (including Nissan Wifi Services (Nissan Connect). My theory is, that service getting impacted at this 'trouble intersections' and is downstream impacting the Wireless Airplay connect.

Strange that multiple car manufacturers are having the same issue - with Carplay being the common thread. Apple - Please help

I have had the same problem for years (I tried new cables, restarting, forgetting my car, etc.). IMHO this is a problem of software. Sometimes updates fix it, and nothing happened, but now, in IOS 17 it's the worse. The phone disconnects especially when I touch it or even without any moving it. Apple should fix it, because this is very frustrating, even more, I often drive my car as a part of my job. And the second problem is disconnecting speakers and microphone, when I talk to somebody by CarPlay (suddenly it starts to hum, and when I change speaker on my phone and back to my car on my phone, it works again). Please do sth Dear Apple :-)

I've tried a few suggestions, turning off wi-fi auto join, cellular to LTE, and in my 2023 Honda Pilot, it will still disconnect iphone 15 pro in a few spots in town. I have tried both wireless and plugged in with a new data cable suggested by someone with the same problem.

Yesterday, in our 2018 Mustang, using the same cable and as we drove through town, hitting the same spots the Pilot would disconnect, it worked perfectly. Now sure what's going on, the Pilot was just bought in early Dec, so brand new. I'm perplexed.

In my 2023 Honda Pilot, my iPhone 15 Pro and CarPlay will lose their connection. We discovered that it happens in a two-three block area of town. The Police and Sheriff have offices in this area and there are a ton of antennas on the buildings. We 'think' it might have something to do with this. I can have my phone plugged in or wireless, it will lose the connection to CarPlay. We haven't gone to a lot of places yet, but when we do, will see what happens.
