Resetting network settings was for me the fix (disconnects on Hyundai Ioniq 5 wired carplay connection): go to Settings \ General \ Transfer or Reset iPhone \ Reset \ Reset Network Settings.
Be sure to also remove the car in the Carplay menu (Settings \ General \ Carplay) and when you add it again, check if the slider is activated for 'Allow CarPlay While Locked).
Also be sure that in Screen Time (Settings \ Screen Time \ Content & Privacy Restrictions) the content & privacy restrictions slider is activated and that Carplay an allowed app is.
Solution was given by Apple Support engineer.
Based on your assessment of the issue, would it stand to reason that turning off Bluetooth would be a temporary fix?
I have a 2019 Subaru Forester with the same issue. First it was happening with my iPhone 12. Tried all the troubleshooting tips and the dealer replaced the infotainment unit. Got an iPhone 13. After a year problem came back. Had the same issue with a Ford Edge rental car.
Just got an iPhone 15 Plus, have to use a 3rd party cable as Apple does not make a USB A to USB C cable. (Although I have this issue with brand new Apple cables. And the Ford Edge allowed a wireless connection). Anyway I’m on iOS 17.0.2 and having the same problem.
Please please fix this. I depend on this feature. It’s very frustrating when it cuts out.
2024 Toyota Corolla XSE and iPhone 14 Pro same problem. Less than 250 miles on car. Everything has been reset to factory and rebooked up by dealership and STILL disconnects randomly when connected via WiFi OR USB cable. Useless.
I’m on iOS 17.1.1 and I’m suing usb type C to connect to CarPlay on a Chevy Captiva premier 2023. Using iPhone 15 pro max 256gb blue. Since last update (1.1) on iOS 17, I can’t use SIRI while connected to CarPlay or otherwise would disconnect the whole thing forcing me to unplug and re plug again. Any ideas?
Nissan Ariya -2023, was working fine with IPhone 15 Pro, for about 2 weeks now it drops routinely. Starts with intermittent audio drops and then a full disconnect. Have been wireless but wired also has experienced issues. Updates are current on car and Phone. Have tried resync and setup of phone but to no avail. Thought it was a Nissan specific issue but seems many other cars are reporting issues.
any suggestions (besides the basic stuff) greatly appreciated
Will apple be coming up with a fix for this problem? Just got an iPhone 15 Pro and the CarPlay drops while I'm driving--just when I need navigation or in the middle of a phone call. there are enough people this is happening to to make apple figure this out. Please keep me appraised of any solutions or updates.
So far from reading this thread. I would say that its seams to be on the interface of the carplay radio and passing by a solar panel system with a Toyota. Regardless of the Iphone model or OS, I thinking that the Toyota's communications system needs to be updated. I think ill ask my Facebook Family and see what they say around Solar panels. I'm in Chicago and drive a lot. I just have to look more for solar panels. My next testing this week.
I just wanted to also note that some friends with Androids have a problem connecting more than one phone to the Toyota interface. My wife has a Samsung S23 and both of us cannot connect to my Rav4 at same time, nor is it a easy task just to add her phone without my Iphone.
I have a 2013 Subaru so I have no option to plug any kind of a cable anywhere. This didn't happen with my iPhone 10XR so I will presume it is an apple issue and not an issue with my car's blue tooth. If there is anyone from apple on this thread, will you let us know if they plan to fix this ?????
Day 2: Testing::: I just ran some more tests last night and today. I've found that the Rav4 Carplay is connected to the app vie Satellite radio and or the cars cellular connection and not by bluetooth at same time. I tested this by turning bluetooth completely off and noticed I was still able to play sounds over the cars radio. I stayed connected all day with bluetooth connected. But with bluetooth enabled, I don't have access to Carplay functions at all, Wirelessly.
The Toyota app keeps popping up on my phone each time I start my car, asking for allow access to the app.(Very Annoying). This happens only with the app installed and the Rav added. There is no way to change how this functions since you need the app to see the car.(So this is a Toyota/JVC Radio fix). Tomorrow my next step is to try add the usb cable to the car's USB port and see if Carplay works that way. Also. I did not pay for the cars hotspot since i have it on my phone. Not needed.
Same is happening to me as well. iPhone 15 pro max and the Car Play also will randomly drop and then no matter what i do to try and get it to work again… it just won’t, then just as suddenly it stops working it will start working again. It is extremely frustrating. Sometimes it will not hook up for like a week!
I had the same problem too with my previous phone but had success after being recommended a particular type of lead. It worked. However, now I've changed to the 15 the connection is different and I now am back struggling to find any lead that will remain connected.
I bought a 2023 Honda Pilot a few months ago, when I drive in certain areas of town, Carplay stops, and my iphone loses connection to car. I have tried a new data cable, wireless, and it just stops. It takes a while for my iphone 15 Pro to reconnect. I am currently on IOS 17.3. I've tried all the suggestions in this thread.
I USB connect directly and its stable thankfully. But it's annoying. I can get into my wife's 2014 era Bluetooth only car and connect wirelessly no problem.
I wanted to try colijn84 suggestion he received from an Apple Engineer which seemed to involve resetting network settings (seems excessive, haven't tried yet). My theory is that there is some sort of network conflict with cars that have a wireless solution built in. So when those connections fail, it cascades down to the interface between the phone and the car.
Good thing I leased my car, this will be a day one test on the next car.
After upgrading iphone 14 to 17.2 and now 17.3. The reconnect time has improved in the area down the street from me. But in other areas as I drive I’m still disconnecting and won’t connect for over 20-30 min. I’ve tried to reconnect with my Rav 4 radio, but I sometimes cannot connect while driving. Then later it just reconnects on its own. So frustrating. Simple logic would be if iPhone was connected try to reconnect automatically when disconnected
Please inform me if a solution is found. It's frustrating that my new iPhone 15 Pro keeps experiencing disconnections. I've purchased and replaced the cables 4 times, so it's not a cable issue. It used to work flawlessly with my iPhone 12 Pro, but now it disconnects randomly.
