I recorded audio on the app iTalk 2014-2019. iTalk is now defunct. How can I recover my recordings?

The voice memo app has deleted the audio recording itself. I had been working with my colleague as a field investigator for 2 months straight, from January to February, collecting data for a project under the prestigious national body, the Indian Council of Social Sciences Research. We had collected audio data of 67 interviews from a place (which is very far from our university), which was saved on the app voice memo. So during early March, I was looking for the audio data so that I could transcribe the interviews. But to my surprise, everything was lost. I couldn't find anything in the recently deleted. I even checked my iCloud, and there I also tried to recover the lost file. but I couldn't find any of the audio files on the recently deleted (iCloud). But to my surprise, the audio file magically came back. I thought of it as a bug, and I was very relieved. But today, while I was transcribing some files, I found out that some of my recordings I did during January are all lost once again. I repeated the process of checking iCloud and recently deleted files. There was nothing. Did this happen because I didn't update my iPhone to the latest version? I will definitely face harsh consequences because of it; I might lose my credibility and also might lose my job if I don't get those files. My salary will also be stopped. I don't know what I should do. Should I travel back to collect data? I dont have that much money to do it once gain. I don't know if even your customer support will be able to help me. I am just disappointed by the Apple company; it is very unprofessional that my phone deleted its files because I didn't update to the latest iOS version. God help me, please.
