Macbook Pro 16 (2019) unable to connect to internet via ethernet

As the title indicates, it seems I'm unable to connect to the internet via a wired connection. Everything has been wired and tested correctly, when I disable the Wifi, the internet completely cuts out.

The set up is ethernet in to a Kensington SD5700T (Thunderbolt 4) dock connected to my Macbook Pro 16 (2019, Intel chip) via a Thunderbolt 4 cable.

This model of Macbook has 4 TB3 ports that should be capable of utilising the ethernet connection on the dock. Everything else from the dock (webcam, monitor) seem to be working fine, just internet doesn't seem to be coming through.

This set up has been tried and tested on my M1 MBP 13.

The specifications for the dock say that its Ethernet port works at 10, 100, and 1000 Mbps speeds. I don't know whether your WiFi router supports 100 Mbps or 1000 Mbps on its LAN side, but I'm guessing that it supports at least one of them.

You say that the Ethernet port on the same docking station works with a 13" M1 MBP?

What does it say in Network Preferences, about the Ethernet interfface, on the 16" MBP? And on the 13" MBP? Both as far as Status ("Cable Unplugged", etc.), and as far as Internet parameters, if any?

It sounds like, at a minimum, you need to create that new service.

Beyond that, it's hard to tell if the problem is with Ethernet-level connectivity or Internet-level connectivity. If there's no Ethernet connectivity, there can be no Internet connectivity (through that interface) – but it is quite possible to have Ethernet connectivity without Internet connectivity if things are configured wrong.

I don't think it would be an issue between ethernet -> docking station, as it was working absolutely fine before.

The M1 macbook was a work machine that I've had to return so unfortunately can't see how that was set up, but from memory, on the below list it had an additional network service termed USB 10/100/1000 LAN and the light next to that was always green/ yellow. Either way, I knew I was utilising the ethernet as I could disable the wifi and still be connected fine.

There is an option at the bottom that allows me to add this service to this list.

But even when I do, the light next to it stays red and there is no change.
