New Folder contains desktop list
Each time I create a folder on my desktop it contains my entire desktop list

And how are you creating a new folder...?
Typically you do not want anything selected on Desktop...Shift Command N is the shortcut for new folder.
alternatively use the drop down Finder>File>New Folder
