Apple verification code pop-up disappears before I can press approve

Thank you so much for documenting your solution for this. I spent days trying to figure out why Apple verification code pop-ups were instantly disappearing when I was trying to approve iCloud for Windows passwords extension. Even Apple support were baffled (I spent a couple of hours in chat and escalated voice calls with them).

Based on your hint, I went to my Apple ID and removed my wife's iPad (my old iPad) from the list of trusted devices i.e. that iPad was being shared between her Apple ID and my Apple ID. Once I removed it from my Apple ID, the pop-ups stopped disappearing.

Phew!

I found a workaround. It’s tricky, but it works for me.

I took a second device (iPad) and took a video of my iPhone. If you’re really quick and press on allow as soon as the message on your iPhone appears, you can review the video on the iPad and see the code.

That’s how I got it to work.

In my case, I went through all of the possible suggested issues, and I solved this by checking my trusted devices. For some reason, my son's iPhone was a trusted device, and once I removed this it worked immediately on all my windows PCs. I recommend checking your trusted devices and makes sure they are not under another Apple ID.

So, similar to the other bootleg fixes mentioned, just be ready when you request the new code on your PC. With your phone in hand, tap the allow and immediately be ready to take a screenshot. It might take a few tries since the code doesn't always pop up with the allow message. Once I input the code, my PC accepted it and turned on the feature. Guess you have to be a quick-draw.

I assume the true fix is related to an old device or family member device that has access, but if you want to just fix it, give the quick draw a try.

Thanks so much! My case exactly as yours: my son's iPhone was a trusted device even though he has his own apple ID. Once I removed his phone it worked instantly and the message now stays up for me to see and act on it.

This actually worked for me, issue is if one of the device is shared with other icloud account, then it causes vanishing verification code. Once the device is removed from trusted device the problem is resolved.

Thank you for sharing!!! That was extremely annoying and I tried everything! As soon as I removed my daughters iPhone from the trusted devices, the authentication worked!

I found that if your verification code disappears to quick, when you click that you did not receive the verification code, you get a couple choices. One of those is to have the code sent to you as a text. That is how I got mine, no problem.

I finally have the answer for something! As a work around, if you go into you Apple ID on your phone find two factor authentication and request a code directly from there!!

If you have more than one iOS/Mac device, put all but one of them offline, then try again. The code then stays on, on the only online device. That worked for me!

I had the same issue and remove my trusted devices (Windows mostly) worked. The pop up did not disappear once i sakd for Two Step Auth.

This worked! Same for me, but I used screen recording on my iMac to capture the verification code in the nanosecond it flashes on the screen right after you press Allow. But all of this is difficult and requires lightning speed, which might make it inaccessible or impossible for some users.

Apple needs to fix this obvious flaw ASAP because it's ridiculous and boneheaded.

@masamx, you broke the code:) I spent 4 hours trying to solve the mystery. I recorded a slomo video on iPhone and saw that the flashing object was actually a notification that someone has been added to apple account and not the verification code.
