Apple TV+ Family Share on Roku TV without Apple Device (Impossible???)

TLDR: Am I forced to buy an Apple device if I want to utilize Family Share for my Apple Plus account on my Roku TV?

I've spent over an hour this morning trying to set up Family Sharing with my Apple Plus Roku tv account. Every site with info, including Apple support, says go to your "device" and click settings under your name, and FS is there. Since I don't own an Apple divide I assumed it meant any device I can lot into my Apple account on. Another website said you can do it on Chrome by logging in.

So on my Android phone, I tried to log into my Apple account on my Chrome, which took a while after realizing you can't access your full Apple account on apple.com anymore. Finally managed it on the apple tv site, but again, the FS link was not there.

Thought maybe I'd need an official Apple app on my Android, which I tried to download, but learned you can't do that either as there are no Apple apps available for Android phones.

So I have no idea how to set up Family Share other than to buy a Mac computer or iPhone or iPad. As a fairly computer literate person I hate feeling stupid but this seems inordinately difficult.

Appreciate any info.

Thanks!

Hi Nancy Ü,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities with your question about Family Sharing. We'll be happy to help.

When we go to Family Sharing - Apple to view the details, we do see at the bottom of the page explaining you will need to have an Apple device to create a Family Sharing group.

Family Sharing requires a personal Apple ID signed in to iCloud. Music, movies, TV shows, and books can be downloaded on up to 10 devices per account, five of which can be computers. iOS 8 or later and OS X Yosemite or later are required to set up or join a Family Sharing group and are recommended for full functionality. Not all content is eligible for Family Sharing. Content can be hidden by family members; hidden content is not available for download. Content downloaded from family members or acquired via redemption codes is not subject to Ask to Buy.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Take care!
