Are there other devices connecting to Mail?

Mail>Preferences>Accounts>Your Account>Mailbox Behaviors, what path is Trash Mailbox set to?

This is apparently an issue for quite some time.. it does this even on iPhones. In another question, I saw that gmail defaults to archiving trashed messages. I can’t fathom why a company would want to hold onto trillions of emails. Unless it’s for nefarious purposes.. good grief!

Still doesn’t explain how or why anyone would need to keep emails of private citizens, or are you saying they can’t separate the two? I’m actually old enough to remember this wonder from it’s infancy..
