My M1 MacBook Pro shows vertical lines on the screen when it boots up from time to time:
After bootup the MacBook functions fine again. Is this something I should be worried about and is there anything I can do to fix this?

Take it in for a hardware issue...
Vertical lines are typically a fault in the display itself/display assembly/display cable...
Plug in an external display and compare your results— external comes directly from the GPU.
Make an appointment for a "hardware issue"

I've now identified that this only happens when the battery completely dies and I boot back up after plugging in the power. Some others report the same issue:

I took it in for warranty but the issue remains. Anyone any idea what causes this issue?
