is there a compatible software or a workaround for a brother inkjet printer, model MFC-495CW, that is no longer supported by brother?
after i downloaded ventura os13.4.1(c), my printer is not recognized

Any change if you reset the printing system and try to re-add the MFC-495CW using the macOS 10.15 Catalina printer driver (see link provided by Rudegar)? Sometimes, a Catalina driver may work with a newer operating system as well.
Reset the printing system on your Mac to solve a problem – Apple Support (UK)
Add a printer to your printer list so you can use it on Mac – Apple Support (UK)
Also, if the printer is connected by USB right now, you may want to try an Ethernet cable connection to one of the LAN ports of a Wi-Fi router instead (or a wireless connection to the router).
As always, make sure that you have backup copies of all important files before testing anything. Software conflicts cannot be ruled out.

they don't seem to support newer than 10.15

btw, i did retrieve my mfc-495cw driver from my time machine backup.
however, yesterday was down the rabbit hole of yard work....
i will try my & your suggestions - one of them will be the solution!

i am still not able to get the mfc-495cw, but i was able to get our brother dcp-l2550dw temporarily on line, but not anymore.
i will try getting my carbon copy clone backup file to retrieve the brother mfc-495cw off of the os10.15 (catalina) version.
