What to do after recovering account from hacker?

Hi, I recently discovered that someone had gained unauthorized access to my Apple ID account. I have since changed the password and added 2FA.

It seems they managed to change my accounts country/Region to Brazil, and when I go to change it back I can see the information they used such as their name, address, etc. (whether they are genuine it is hard to say). Also there are multiple devices now associated with my account (mostly iphone 5s).

I don't want to add my info to change the location back yet in case they still have access somehow.

What steps should I take to clear all of this up.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello MaximusWhitimus,

In cases where there's unauthorized access to your Apple ID, you want to review the information at If you think your Apple ID has been compromised - Apple Support

It sounds like you've already taken the first steps to secure the account itself. Once the password is changed and 2FA established, you need to remove any device associated with the Apple ID that is not your's to prevent those from gaining the verification codes for 2FA. So clear out all of those devices that you see. Once that's done, you can then start confirming the remaining information on the account is correct.

As a precaution, you can let any applicable financial institutions know about potentially compromised payment details for accounts linked to your Apple ID so they can help you watch for unauthorized activity.

If you run into any trouble, don't hesitate to contact Apple Support.
