My iPad volume turns up to max when the volume buttons are touched or just pushed once

As the title states my volume adjusts itself to max volume automatically if anything touches the volume buttons. Even if they aren’t actually pushed. My the buttons aren’t dirty, I have no water damage or anything like that, I tried restarting my iPad, turning off Bluetooth, and disabling voiceover. I can’t find anything on the web on how to fix this. And for your information, my iPad is not old or out of date I bought it last December it’s an iPadOS 16 and I update it when available.

If your iPad has a fitted case, remove it - as some third-party cases are known to interfere with correct operation of the physical buttons of an iPad.

A forced-restart may help - as this will usually clear a software-related issue:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.

If you are unable to resolve the problem, you would be best advised to visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to hands-on test and assess your iPad:
