Apple Remote Desktop – why so unpredictable?

Setup:

Home: MBP 2016. Internet 25/5Mbps connection

Office: Mac Studio 2023. 1Gbps on local network, LAN speeds 100Mb/s, internet 700Mb/s+

At home, sometimes ARD grinds to a 7-10 second lag per click. Other times .5-1sec.

The organisation has progressed to Zscaler VPN, from similar software by Big-IP.

Why?

I know better than to download updates or worse upload work files if I want the ARD to be stable, but very often there is no better solution to fix a ridiculously slow interface than to reboot the office machine and the local laptop.

This may – or may not – fix the latency issues, that's what is so frustrating.

It's 2023, Apple. You can't do better than this? With your expensive hardware and proprietary RAM for new machines?
