This graphics configuration does not support hardware acceleration, which is required to run iMovie.

When I try to open the iMovie app on my MacBook Pro (MacBook Pro M1 chip 2020) , app doesn't open and this message comes up:

This graphics configuration does not support hardware acceleration, which is required to run iMovie.

I'm not really sure what's wrong. Any help will be appreciated, thank you!

Hi,

I suggest that you call Apple support and and ask the techs there how to enable graphics acceleration. I'm pretty sure that there is a way to go to Graphics Performance and set the Hardware Acceleration to ON.

You might also check your Energy Saver settings in System Preferences/Energy Saver and deselect Automatic Graphics Switching. See if that helps. If it doesn't help, you can switch back the setting. On later Macs, the setting may be in System Settings/Battery.
