Discord and parental control

My kid uses Discord to communicate with his friends. After I put parental controls on his iPhone, he wasn’t able to access Discord. Is there anyway for me to allow Discord while maintaining parental control? Thanks.

I have the same issue. Although I am torn on this issue. On one hand it is necessary for young gamers who like to with friends. Discord’s policy is a minimum age of 13.

Apple’s policy content restrictions jumps from 12 to 17. To allow Discord we as parents have to allow 17+ and I am not sure I am ok with that.

A simply fix by Apple would be to add another age level of 13 or Discord drop their age restrictions to 12.

However parents there is a huge caveat. Discord allows users to share content some of which will be adult or even more nefarious. Hackers use the site as well in private chat rooms where they can share files videos or pictures. So perhaps 17 is a good setting and we as parents shouldn’t allow it? But my kid uses it on Pc as well. So I am torn on the issue.

Managing Discord:

Perform two things...

A. Contact the App’s Developer.

You’ll think they’re Contact Us info in the app’s site of the App Store. See what they have to say in this, and if it even is an option, from the POV.

Also…

B. Recommend this to Apple:

Do your Part: Being (apparently)of no option on Apple’s end, let apple know what feature(s) you want to see addedApple wont get back to you directly, but the more they hear of this, the more they will know what their customers prefer and what features need to be added.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Feature Request" for the "FeedbackType"
  3. Comment: that you think this should be an option and why. Include the URL of this thread.
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

I. Report this to Apple:

Discord's workarounds is a major bug (or maybe just a major annoyance) in Apple's iPhone iOS. Many reports are out there over the years on getting this fixed. Question is: "Just how many people have actually reported this to Apple?" These are just user-to-user forms. Apple barely reads the forums as it is on their own time and will. Apple will know nothing of this concern, if you do not spread the word to them. So, report it to Apple. They wont get back to you directly, but the more they hear about this, the more likely they will look into, knowing what is going on.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Proceed from there as necessary.

II. Update the iPhone 13:

A. Use my User Tips:

B. Use of Ethernet:

If WiFi will not work on your computer, while trying to perform the upgrade, then try connecting, using Ethernet. If no Ethernet port, try this adapter: The Belkin USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter - Apple
