Macbook Pro 2019 16 inch slow wakeup and panic issues with logs
I have been facing the following errors and issues:
- panic(CPU 1 caller 0xfffffff00bf18a68): x86 CPU CATERR detected
- panic(CPU 14 caller 0xffffff8004979941): userspace watchdog timeout: no successful checkins from WindowServer in 120 seconds. WindowServer has not exited since first loaded
3.1 Slow (around 1 minute) wake up from Sleep. Once the screen goes black (after putting the screen down or after waiting for it to go black). In this case, pressing the power button causes the keyboard lights to come on immediately but the screen takes 1 minute to wake up. During that 1 minute, the touch bar does not turn on.
3.2 After opening the screen and trying to wake up by pressing the power button, the keyboard lights come on immediately and the touch bar turns on too. The system logs me in because I can type and search (using cmd+space) to open apps and all that (the touch bar shows suggestions and I can play youtube videos using it). But the screen does not turn on.
What I have tried:
- I looked into my login items and removed all in case the login items (3rd party apps) were causing wakeup to be slow.
- I have looked into plists and checked if any suspicious files are there but I couldn't see any. I was a bit hesitant to mess with them because I know they are important.
- I tried changing the resolution, changing it to default and then lower, hoping that less load might help the screen turn on faster.
- I ran diagnostics and no error came up
- I reset the SMC and NVRAM and no help from that
- My software is up to date (Ventura 13.4.1)
- I tried looking into logs and I got errors and warnings that worried me but I also got the same logs in safe mode
- I checked the temperature and monitor it and it remains between 40 C (idle) - 70 C (with 2 VMs running)
- I tried finding if any applications are running on the background and using unnecessary or suspicious amounts of CPU but I couldn't find any.
Today I dug into logs more and ran an experiment.
At 14:07:00 I locked my MacBook to cause it to sleep
At 14:27:00 I pressed the power button to wake it
At 14:27:55 the screen came on
I got multiple errors, faults and default logs in between
Here are photos of the fault and error logs (start and finishing)
And also the full error and fault logs
Hopefully, the logs might help to identify where the issue is. I can continue to dig into the problem. I just need someone to guide me and help me where I should look.
