Impossible to disable content blocker safari

Hello,

I have some trouble with built-in adblocker of Safari. When I try to disable for one website in particular the adblocker, its instantanatly turn on and refresh the page, it's impossible to turn off.

Even when I go in Safari setting and try to disable for every website its the same trouble. I have try without private navigation its exactly the same.

By the way, it's impossible to delete the website in the settings. I can see them only when I am on these website but I imagine it's normal because I am all time in private navigation.

It's really boring because of that I have error 2000 on twitch... é.é and of course only when I am in Safari and not with other browser. Life is sad.

Its a bug or its a misconfiguration?

Thanks in advance (and sorry for my English !)

Hi !

Apple support tries to help me but unfortunately they didn't find the problem... But after some research on different sessions of my Mac, a reinstallation of macOS, I found something !

Maybe it could help some people who has the same problem as I can read on the web. The trouble seems to appear when I enable iCloud Private Relay and especially when I hide IP Address on Safari Settings (confidentiality) and choose "for trackers and websites".

The problem appears only on my session that has iCloud Account and not on my Admin account.

Plus, the error doesn't appear on the other web browsers with Ublock Origin. So the only thing that is different is iCloud Private Relay that is enable only on Safari.

So... 2 days to find this ! But I don't know why Twitch blocks iCloud Private Relay DNS, because I guess it's about DNS.

Thanks ! And I hope that can help <3

Stangerson,

Let's try to remove and reinstall the extension using these steps:

"Uninstall or turn off extensions

Choose Safari > Settings (or Preferences), then click Extensions.

  • To turn off an extension, deselect its checkbox.
  • To uninstall an extension, select the extension and click the Uninstall button. If you can't determine what an extension does, or you don't expect to use it again, you should uninstall it."

Additional details can be found here: Use Safari extensions on your Mac

If the issue persists, are you able to test with another extension?

Cheers!

Hi !

I removed the extension and it's the same trouble.

When I don't have any extension and that I try to turn off adblock by "settings for..." it's refresh the page and when I see again it's always turn on...

With or without extension it's the same behavior, box "activate blocker content" always checked (and I have the wonderful error 2000 on Twitch with Safari <3)

It's difficult for me to try with another adblocker because I try to use only open source extensions and that respect the privacy so Adguard for Safari. (If you know something else, don't hesitate !)

Thanks.

Hi again !

So after some days, it's not about trackers, I think just about Ip address and iCloud Private Relay.

If people have error 2000 on twitch (only with Safari), disable "Hide ip address" on Safari settings or just reload the website and show Ip address.

It's seems to work for me. I would like to know exactly why we have this bug ... Maybe someone knows but I doubt about it, I found nothing on the web and Apple tells me "reinstall MacOS" what a joke.

Hello Stangerson,

To help us get a better understanding of the issue, we’d like to ask a few questions.

1. Does this happen with other websites as well, or only that specific one?

2. Were any changes made to your device or its settings before this began? If so, what was changed?

3. Since experiencing this behavior, has your device been restarted? If so, does restarting correct the issue temporarily?

That information will help us proceed.

Please also check out this link to ensure the correct process is being used to change website settings in Safari on Mac, so we can make sure there aren't any issues there: Change Websites settings in Safari on Mac

Change Websites settings in Safari on Mac

In the Safari app  on your Mac, use Websites settings to customize how you browse individual websites.

To change these settings, choose Safari > Settings, then click Websites.

The settings you can customize (such as Reader and Content Blockers) are listed on the left.
To apply a setting to a website on the right, first select the setting, then choose the option you want from the pop-menu next to the website.

Thanks!
