I thought Do Not Disturb would prevent phone calls from getting through. This help page seems to be saying that it only stops notifications. Sometimes I want to really not be disturbed. Do I need to turn my phone off completely?

Do Not Disturb setup has been made much more flexible, but this has come at the cost of much more complication. To get it working again, do these steps ONCE:
All of the above is a one-time setup. After that, turn DND on or off with the Control Center Focus button. You can optionally set one or more schedules by going to:
Settings/Focus/Do Not Disturb/Set a Schedule.
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately that's how it's set up already, and I still get phone calls coming through when I have DND on. It wasn't always like that. One or two software updates ago is when things changed. I hope Apple fixes this soon. Most of the calls getting through are scam calls.
I’m having the same problem! I’m so furious and frustrated. I use my phone for work and was always able to put it on DND and any calls, texts or notifications would be silent and not show on my screen. Ever since the update with all its extra dnd features, I still get EVERY call and text, I had to turn my vibrate off on my phone. But then I can’t get my alarm bc it’s a vibrate and it’s messing EVERYTHING UP! WTH apple?!
I have the same problem with my phone there is no people option if fact it’s no toward how to let calls come through. I keep getting calling on my phone I’ve tried everything!! I’m so mad I want to use my phone and not be disturbed. The only way now is to turn it completely off. Which is mind blowing due to this is apple and should be so dang on hard!! Ugh
Once again… Apple products are illogical. I set my phone to do not disturb, yet telemarketers can call at 5:53am, thereby interrupting my white noise with the buzz of my iPhone and waking me up hours earlier than planned. Does this make any sense? What a joke, Apple.
I only have it set for my favorites to get through but everyone gets through. I am not understanding why, do you think I could be missing a step

This is ridiculous. What is the point of having do not disturb when even spam calls come through?! I placed my phone on do not disturb from anyone
