iMessage Pinwheeling Constantly

I'll reboot; imessages will run fine, then after a little bit of time it'll pinwheel. In console all I see is this:

{"bug_type":"313","timestamp":"2023-08-08 19:34:12.00 -0500","os_version":"macOS 13.5 (22G74)","roots_installed":0,"incident_id":"0B37BF09-B16D-4B5B-8334-C379573510BF"}

{"user_guid":"416EE10F-48C7-4E20-9F3D-A48766E2EE32","session_start":1691541253,"agent":"parsecd\/1 (iMac19,2; macOS 13.5 22G74) spotlight\/1","country_code":"US"}

I just don't know how to read it lol.

Suggestions?

Hello clint2166,

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If we understand correctly, you are unable to get the Message app to open on your Mac. First, try running First Aid on your hard drive with the built in Disk Utility tool, as this can correct simple issues like you're experiencing.

Next, use safe mode to start up your Mac as it does the following things:

  • Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed
  • Loads only required kernel extensions
  • Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically
  • Disables user-installed fonts
  • Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

Log in to your user account and test the issue while in safe mode and then restart normally and test the issue again.

Cheers!
