My brand new 2023 MacBook Pro 16" - one day in and I already have anxiety with this online talk of closing the lid/screen and causing imprint/damage from the keys?
So, I spent a very long time deciding/saving/getting excited to purchase a 2023 MacBook Pro M2, 16".
The day finally arrived, and opening the box to reveal my new MacBook was a moment of beauty.
However... after reading some topics online to help me navigate my way around the computer (I've always used a Windows), for some reason I then stumbled on the somewhat negative truth of MacBook's 'design flaw' regarding shutting the lid/screen which could then press the keys and possibly imprint onto the screen - there were quite a few different posts on this issue which people were complaining and very dissapointed about.
So now, I have some questions regarding this if anyone here can please help to put my mind at rest? It's a bit crazy to think I've just spent almost £3000 on a machine and my first concern is due to something which in all honesty, really shouldn't exist if you're paying that much!
- Does anyone know for sure if, when you close your 2023 MacBook pro lid/screen, that the display will indeed touch and press against the keys no matter what? Is that just something the design couldn't ever escape? Or, is there a tiny gap they've introduced.
2. The thin protective sheet of paper that was pressed between the screen and keypad when you first open the box; is this Apple saying, use me everytime you want to close the MacBook pro? It just seems like that bit of paper isn't going to last for a long time, and can easily crease when you handle it. I'm not sure if they expect people to throw it away on opening the box.
I never thought this would be the first thing I had to query with my expensive new 2023 MacBook. It's like something you might ask after purchasing a very cheap Window machine or something similar.
I've also read it's not good to sandwich any other style cloth between the screen and keypad, so I'd rather not go for that option either.
Lastly - my machine will mainly stay indoors, I don't think it will be used much to travel with.
Thank you for reading, and any advice/guidance you might have!
