I just fixed my problem. I could add other credit cards except for one so not sure if it applies to your situation. It was because there were too many tokens on that particular card so when it came off Apple Wallet, it won't let me add it back on. I called the bank and they deleted some of the tokens for unused websites/retailers on my card and instantly I was able to add the card.

Hi,

So I have been having this issue with both my Apple Watch and new iPhone. My credit card had been working perfectly fine with my old phone. I have been back and forth with both the bank and apple support. I was able to aDS another card in the meantime. However, I have finally had it fixed. So I called the bank and apparently the credit card was linked to multiple what is called “tokens” which are like accounts for e.g. Apple Pay, Amazon, booking etc. and apparently there is a limit to how many a card can be linked to. So the bank unlinked some of these tokens and voilà problem solved.

I encountered this problem a year ago with my debit card after getting a new iphone and couldn't fix the problem so gave up. Decided to work on problem again this week and called BofA (again). The agent sent me to the BofA mobile app, and then to click on "Manage Debit/Credit Card" from top menu. Turns out my debit card had never been verified/authenticated. Problem easily solved. Hope this helps someone.

If you can add it through the banks website or their app, it indicates the bank or Payment Network (Visa, MasterCard etc.) is having verification issues. Apple is not a bank and cannot verify your card. Only the issuing bank or a third party verification service (Payment Network or merchant services provider) and verify the card/account. When you add the card manually using Apple Wallet, the banks verification procedure changes. It’s the manual verification process that is failing and that’s basically your banks issue.

Try to get your issue escalated up the tiers of support at the bank and hopefully they can resolve the issue for you. The bank’s support team may need to contact the Payment Network or verification services provider. Consumers will have no luck trying to get support from Payment Network etc.

Hello guys,

I had the same issue for months until I checked some old apple discussions about the same problem. Go to Face ID and passcode, turn passcode off( it will remove all cards from Apple Pay) and after that try add the cards that cannot be added first. It worked for me. I hope it will be a solution for all in this situation.

Have a good one!

I’ve been working on this issue for the past two years and finally found a solution to the matter.

After calling TD I spoke to this woman in the technical department and mentioned that she entered some notes in my account and needed to go to the bank so they review the notes they can reissue a new card. The banker explained to me that instead of simply changing my card, she needs to issue a new card and manually transfer all the data to the new card (still dont understand what that really means).

When she was doing the necessary changes, she realized there was a second card in my account (that TD randomly sent) which I never used so she thinks that might have caused a problem.

Long story short, now everything is working.

I had Apple and Fidelity on a 3-way call.

  1. Apple asked Fidelity to “reset the ApplePay token”.
  2. Fidelity said they don’t have any active ApplePay tokens on my account to reset.
  3. Apple asked if they could escalate this request to Visa.
  4. Fidelity talked with Visa who said they also don’t see a token to reset.
  5. Apple had to escalate to their leadership.
  6. Senior Advisor got on the phone and said the only thing they can do is “reset my Wallet & ApplePay”
  7. I reset all settings but with the stolen device protection on, there is a 1-hour delay. So she has to call me back. 😤

This is a 💩 show! Apple could do better for their customers to help them resolve this issue.

I’ll update if it actually gets resolved.
