"There’s a problem loading this content" error while watching 'Across the Spider Verse' on Apple TV

Purchased Across the Spider Verse through Apple TV, have watched it several times on various devices, and now today, only the movie comes up with this error message. I’m able to watch all other purchases, including the Special Features on Spider Verse. This message only comes up when I try to play the movie.

I’ve searched for solutions and tried all the suggested workarounds and nothing is working.

Me, too! It keeps saying “trouble with content”. How can I fix this?

I am having the same error. After you push “PLAY” on the movie’s menu screen, you get “There’s a problem loading this content.” And and “OK” button which brings you back to the movie’s menu screen. Tough to spend $20 to own a movie on digital and encounter such a hassle!

Today I got the Apple TV+ free trial. Streaming with the Apple TV+ app from iphone 12 gives a constant error message “there is a problem loading this content”. Does not matter which tv show. I can not find a solution, anybody? The Apple TV device I have is an older model which works fine with Netflix and Amazon prime and ZiggoTV.

Same for me and it is the next episode of a show I was just watching the other day.

it plays fine on my phone but won’t play on my Apple TV. Just says “There’s a problem loading this content” after trying a while.

I tried airplay from my phone but that doesn’t work either… just spins until K cancel from my phone and then gives the error.

RESTARTING THE REMOTE worked for me.

Hold down the TV button and volume down for 6 seconds. The "content loading" problem started the same time my remote stopped controlling the volume of my soundbar for no good reason. Restarting the remote solved both problems.

I've been having the same error for a few months now. I also have a few other issues. I have a rather large library of movies and TV shows, most of it purchased on iTunes. I also ripped a DVD collection I have, for my own personal use. It's a bit more than annoying when stuff like this happens, it should just work, or throw up a message to say what's up. The other issues:

  • There are many blank areas where a movie I purchased should display on the Mac TVapp.
  • Much of the content I have purchased over the past year cannot be played on my MacBook or AppleTV. This string talks about the AppleTV. On the MacBook Pro, I select play and a window pops up for less than a second, then goes away. No error noted, nothing saying there is something wrong, just doesn't play.

Please help Apple!

Hi NateDizzle,

If you are having trouble playing content from the Apple TV app, you can follow If you can't watch or stream movies and TV shows in the Apple TV app.

If it continues after these steps, please provide additional information such as what the exact message you are getting when trying to play this content.

Take care.

Same thing here. My internet is not the issue. It’s something about this movie in particular. Makes me wish I purchased it elsewhere so I could watch it. The menu screen plays just fine and so do all of the features. The movie itself won’t play. Frustrating experience

Similar situation with me with Apple TV 4K. All apps will play content except not the Apple TV+ shows. After selecting something to play There's a problem loading content box comes on screen. TV based Apple TV app will play, but I should be able to watch through the actual Apple TV 4K. Restarting things does not appear to have helped. Apple seems to have an issue that needs investigation. Thanks.
