How do I change the home folder's name?
Hey everyone,
How do I change the home folder's name?
I've looked online and it seems that all the answers I have come across is most likely outdated.
Does anyone know?
Thanks.

The "user name" is greyed out on my machine, meaning it cannot be changed.
The guide says "OS Ventura" but I'm not getting the same option.
I have changed it in the past, but there must have been at least one software update since then.
It appears I cannot change it as MacMikeInOK has stated.
Make sure you're logged into an Administrator account that is not the account you want to change the name of. I'm on Ventura 13.1 and I'm able to edit other accounts' user names from my admin account.
You can't change the name of that folder.

So I tried your method. It not only didn't work, I essentially factory reset my desktop and I couldn't reverse it.
Warning: DO NOT TRY TO CHANGE YOUR HOME FOLDER NAME. JUST LEAVE IT BE.
It's not my method, it's Apple's official method, and it does warn you before starting, but I'm sorry that it didn't work for you.
It's OK. It's not a big deal or anything.
I don't regret trying at least. At least now I know it's very risky to try to change it.
