iPhone 14 pro battery health reduced to 92% in less than a year

I got my iPhone in Oct 2022, the battery was quite good at the start but slowly I can see the maximum capacity being reduced as the days passed. The phone is continuously updated to the latest software and I even try to take maximum care of the phone.

As of today, the maximum capacity is just 92%. I did not expect this from Apple.

When I am paying ₹1.3 lakhs for a phone, I expect it to stay new for at least a year!!

What am I supposed to do now?!

It's frustrating to experience a decline in battery health, especially on a premium device like the iPhone. Here are some steps you can take to address and possibly improve the situation:

Check Battery Usage:

Go to "Settings" > "Battery" to check which apps or processes are consuming the most battery. This can help you identify if any specific app is causing excessive drain.

Optimize Settings:

Adjust settings that can impact battery life, such as screen brightness, background app refresh, and push notifications. Use Wi-Fi instead of cellular data when possible.

Background App Refresh:

Disable background app refresh for apps that don't require constant updates. This can be found in "Settings" > "General" > "Background App Refresh."

Update Apps:

Ensure that all your apps are up to date. Developers often release updates that can include optimizations for better battery performance.

Reset Settings:

You can try resetting all settings on your iPhone. This won't delete your data but will reset system settings. Navigate to "Settings" > "General" > "Reset" > "Reset All Settings."

Contact Apple Support:

If the battery health continues to decline rapidly and you're within the warranty period, consider reaching out to Apple Support. They may be able to provide guidance or assess if a replacement battery is needed.

Battery Replacement:

If your iPhone is still under warranty or covered by AppleCare, you may be eligible for a free battery replacement. If not, Apple offers battery replacement services for a fee.

External Factors:

Consider external factors like extreme temperatures, as they can impact battery health. Avoid exposing your iPhone to very hot or very cold environments.

Battery Health Management:

Ensure that the "Optimized Battery Charging" feature is enabled. This feature, found in "Settings" > "Battery" > "Battery Health," helps slow down battery aging.

Remember that over time, battery capacity naturally degrades, but Apple provides tools and services to help mitigate this. If you're still dissatisfied, reaching out to Apple Support or visiting an Apple Store may provide you with personalized assistance and solutions.

I bought an iPhone 12 Pro in Feb 2021 and today the battery health is 85% (in 30 Months!).

The measure of battery health deterioration/drainage is subjective and can vary depending on individual usage patterns. There is no universal standard to determine whether the battery health deterioration/drainage is normal or abnormal because it heavily relies on how the battery is used and maintained.

Did you notice the battery drop right after an update? If yes, then you are not the only one. I too have faced the sudden battery drop of over 5-6% in almost 3 weeks on my 13 mini. Its a common thing for Apple to knowingly either degrade the battery health or mess up the performance. Also the battery drops more if you have updated the iPhone directly. Connect the device via a Mac or Windows (through iTunes) and then try updating. This will have a lesser impact on the battery health. This is because when you update via iPhone, only the basic update gets installed and the remaining keeps on installing over the coming days. Whereas when you update via Mac/Windows the entire update file gets installed.

I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max 256GB and the battery health on the

30th Sept 2023 was 96%.

I've been watching it drop like a stone.

19th October 2023 94%

18th November 2023 92%

I have optimized battery charging set on, and I charge from 20% to 90%

My phone does not get hot or cold so I'm wondering why I am losing 2% per month.

In contrast, my iPhone 11 Pro Max 256GB is now only at 90% battery health.

What is going on, are these batteries defective, and is the a replacement scheme by Apple, please?

Many thanks

Gray

Hi there, the metric used to determine the degradation of the battery is not at all accurate and it is there to gauge the life cycles given to a battery. If your phone is charged then discharged to 0 that is a cycle down. If you charged your phone to 100 used it to 50 then you charged it back up to 100 and used it to 50 again that is also a cycle. Percentage is based on the cycles not actual real time degradation of the battery. Hope this helps

I’m not sure how to edit my post so I will add this.

September 96%

October 94%

November 92%

Just checked over the holidays

December 90%

Im watching the batter health of my iPhone 14 Pro Max drop like a stone.

As I said before my 11 Pro Max is currently at 90%!!

What is happening here and will Apple do a battery swap for free or a discounted price does anyone know?

(I doubt it unless there was a recall)

Thanks all
