Apple Music stutters on iPhone 14 Pro Max

When listening to Apple Music on my iPhone 14 Pro Max on iOS 16.6 it will have a slight stutter at 5, 15, and 30 seconds. It doesn’t stop playing but you can hear a definite stutter. Sometimes it’s only at 5 seconds or at 30 seconds. It seems random but it’s always at those times. This happens on AirPod pros and using Apple carplay. It’s just enough to throw you off your rhythm and take you out of the music.

If this helps, I had the same issue on my iPhone 11 before I upgraded to this phone.

I’ve been having this issue since I upgraded to the iPhone 15 pro. It’s happening on Apple Music and pandora on and off WiFi. It’s super annoying. It happens on EVERY song throughout the entire song. Help!!!

I'm having this problem as well. To be clear, I am not using the streaming service. This is music I have had stored locally for years. When I playback these tracks they cut out and stutter randomly. This always happens at a different place, so it's not an issue with the actual music file. The same tracks playback just fine on my iPhone.

Restarts have not helped. This has started happening since I got my M1 Mac a year ago.

Hi ShermanKlump,

Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities!

We understand that music playing from your iPhone to your Bluetooth devices pauses unexpectedly, correct?

Is the music you're playing downloaded to your iPhone or is it streaming?

If the music is downloaded, this resource will help you to redownload music if you need it: Add and download music from Apple Music - Apple Support

"How to download music from Apple Music on your iPhone, iPad, or Android

  1. Open the Apple Music app.
  2. Add a song, album, or playlist to your library.
  3. Touch and hold the song, album, or playlist that you added from Apple Music.
  4. Tap Download."

If the music is downloaded, do you notice this happening after you delete and redownload the music?

Do you experience the same behavior while you're connected to a Wi-Fi network or when you don't have any Bluetooth devices connected to your iPhone?

We look forward to your reply.

Cheers!

Hello team,

It will be super easy for you to reproduce this error, just download for example drum loop, and put it on repeat, every 12-15 times it stutters. I just bought a new phone, out of box, with iOS 16.6 and I am shocked with this bug. This wasn't the issue with previous phone. Problem occurs without and with Wi-Fi, mobile data etc. I think it's your iTunes player buffer.

Test it with short and medium file size, various formats except mp3 (since mp3 contains silence before and after audio track).

Please raise the ticket.

Regards

Yes, I agree, this seems like an issue that needs to be addressed. I don't have stuttering when using my iPhone. Now have iMac M1 I think it's got a few years on it...I bought it used, just to use for my Apple music, it studders randomly and I'm so frustrated! I am about to look elsewhere to store/play my music. I think Apple Lost a customer here. Good Luck

Oh and all my updates are good to go
