new max book air won’t charge

i plug in my 2023 max book air to charge it and the light on the cord turns on indicating that it’s charging but there’s no feedback on the screen that says it is

Is optimized charging on? Then charging can be on hold until the Mac is thinking that it must charge, to prevent overcharging of your battery
