What do I do when the mac is stuck in internet recovery after using command r??

After Being prompted to use Command + R in the support page I was able to connect to a wifi network, however as the device began the internet recovery the progress bar stopped and the time being tracked froze at 24 minutes the globe displayed is still spinning but there are no other indicators that there is an issue device has been like this for about an hour already.
