Cannot login to Apple store

I recently replaced my hard drive and restored all my apps and data from a backup using the migration assistant. All went well except I can no longer login to the App Store. I also upgraded the macOS to Catalina 10.15.7 - The hardware is Running Late 2013

You need your login user name to sign in to Apple Store.

I can sign into the App Store with my Apple ID and password. On my iPhone and MacBook Pro , however I still cannot login to the App Store on my macOS since it was upgraded to Catalina 10.15.7. When I try to login, both user name and password are accepted without error but there is no login. I have tried resetting the Apple ID password and the outcome is the same. I have restarted the iMac several times.
