Once you add your Capital One card to apple wallet you'll have to verify who you are. Here is where it gets weird! If this account has 2 users linked to one account (like husband & wife), the owner of the account, can easily verify their card through the app on their device. BUT, if the other user is trying to verify adding their card on a different device, the owner will have to login to the other users app using the owners login to verify, before the other users card will be verified in their apple wallet. Hope this makes sense (took 24 hrs of running around, calling both Apple and Capital one to finally figure this out.
What worked for me was turning off my VPN and WiFi.
You should talk with your bank are you on IOS 17 Or IOS 18 If its on a beta there will be bugs
but talk with capital 1
THANK YOU!!!
I’ve been going absolutely nuts trying to resolve this but logging into my Capital One app with my bf’s account finally worked! So dumb they would set it up that way when they allow each person to have their own credit card with their own name on it but can’t add it to their own Apple wallet without the account holder.
Mm I’m not sure who you spoke to at Capital One but that information is completely incorrect. I literally just successfully added my Capital One credit card to my ApplePay two days ago.
As another user posted, if the account is shared, i.e. a husband/wife each with their own credit card on the same account/bill, you must sign into the account HOLDER’s Capital One account on YOUR Capital One app in order to verify it for ApplePay.
I've been having problems trying to add my Capital One card to the Wallet for the last 30+ days. I was told at the end of May (2024) that I needed to wait 30 days. I did so, and it still doesn't work. I escalated, and was told today (7/2/24), that there is a known problem with Apple and Capital One, and I need to wait another 30 days. This is ridiculous.
Do you use a VPN? If so, it’s a known issue with all credit card verifications. An unstable WiFi connection is also a known issue.
It’s a Capital One issue. All other debit cards are working properly in Apple Wallet. Post similar to yours are starting to appear across social media sites. You’re the third person today that I’ve commented with about C1 debit cards.
The problem is that Capital One only allows verification through the app where they perform some kind of geographical validation. After trying a few things (with and without VPN, faking GPS location, etc), the only way that worked was to use the U.S. SIM card with data roaming activated. Once I enabled roaming and turned off WiFi with any VPN - the verification worked. So the only way to complete the verification process is by using SIM card issued by the U.S. carrier with data roaming enabled.
Wi-Fi will always be a problem with the Capital One network. It’s better to do it on your Internet service provider of your carrier. This will solve the issue and Apple Pay does work with the cards once you verify it on the app.
Update on my situation. After many calls to Cap1 support, and sending email to a couple of Cap1 bigwigs, I got a useless snail mail form letter from the "Capital One Customer Advocacy Office" basically providing some basic troubleshooting which, in my initial email to them, I already covered those issues. I was preparing to send a nastygram to them, but decided to try to add my card one more time, and it worked! When I entered the card information, it took me to a terms and conditions page, which I accepted, and it thought for a bit, then gave me a few options for verification. I chose to verify through the Cap1 app, which succeeded.
Thankfully my saga has ended happily.
Not sure what country that is for, but each individual will need to use the Apple Support article I linked to below to determine if a bank located in their country support Apple Pay or not.
The screen shot below shows that Capital One supports Apple Pay as of June 13th 2024. Use the link above to view current banks that support Apple Pay.
As said above, if an account has multiple users, the primary must sign in on any device attempting to add a card to Apple Pay. Going round and round with this at work, the boss doesn’t want to sign in on my phone, because he has personal financial info tied to his account. 🙄
This thread is from 2023 but I was on the phone with Capital One just last week & the rep helping me out told me that the card is supported by Apple Pay still, at least in the US. I can't, for the life of me, get my card back to Apple Pay though.
My 2nd post in 10 days:
I spoke to Capital One rep about 3-4 days ago and they mentioned since January 2024, they have stopped verifying their cards via phone call. So the only option is to use the Mobile App. But like others, it doesn't work for me. I am outside the United States currently and my mobile plan does not include data (only calls & text). So I only have wifi to use any app.
Has anyone found any solution to activating their Capital One card?
I just tried this (January 2024) and it worked. I'm an authorized user and couldn't get my card verified on Apple Pay. So dumb from Capital One. This is not the first issue we have had with this card. It gets complicated to get verified when making online purchases and you're out of the country. Wondering who was the genius team behind all this "security" layers.
