Does anyone have a solution for adding red circle highlights to a photo filed in Apple Photos, other than by using a third party editing app? I would like to avoid using PhotoShop or other editing software, if there is a simpler way to highlight a segment of a photo.

Have you tried the Markup tool set in Edit mode? It can be accessed from the Extensions icon (three dots in a circle).

If you found the Shapes tool to make a circle/oval and the Fill Color tool to make it hollow instead of filled, look for the Border Color tool next to the Fill Color tool.
Thank you. It worked. You can tell I have not done much with photos. Got the circle in place, but find no way to change its color from black to red.
Again, very grateful for your sharing your expertise. Now that I have the answer, it seems so simple I wonder why I couldn't figure it out.
