At least 50% of the time I try to send an audio message in texts, the audio message button simply doesn’t open the record button. I click it and it does nothing.
Yes, I am using iMessage, and yes, I have sent audio messages in the same chat previously the same day, and yes, I have service.

If you haven't already, you could see if restarting your iPhone may help with this. Restarting refreshes the software and may help resolve this. If needed, the steps below show how:

1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.
2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo.
