Photoshop Elements 2023. - unable to update plug-ins for camera ARW raw

Ensure that you have the last update of Photoshop Elements 2023 installed. Any plug-ins must be compatible with macOS Ventura and be 64-bit plug-ins. If you are attempting to use years old Elements plug-ins, they probably will not work.

If Apple does not yet support your Sony camera, then the RAW ARW images will not appear as Finder icons, in Quick Look, or open in Preview. Adobe themselves may not yet support that camera in their own RAW support.

You can check macOS for that camera support:

Option+Apple () menu : System Information… : Software : Raw Support. Scroll into the Sony camera section.

If your camera is not found, only Apple and Sony know when or if it will be supported. We don't.

Adobe has their listing of what they support for camera RAW. Follow the Sony link in the following and note any minimum camera RAW plug-in version for your camera (if it is supported).

If you use Adobe's Digital Negative Converter (providing your camera is supported), then you can convert the ARW RAW files into DNG which can be viewed in Finder, Quick Look, and Preview.

Just to add, I have no problems updating/installing Adobe Raw 15.5 using the CameraRaw installer or through Creative Cloud on my M1 MacBook Air or with Adobe Creative Cloud. No problems with Intel Macs for that matter.
