Can't open the airtag as shown the apple page for replacement of a airtage battery. How can one actually do this?

Received a message indicating one of our Apple Airtags battery is low. Looked up how to replace the battery on Apple's website - they state to push down on either side of the apple logo and turn counterclockwise. I tried multiple times using various amounts of pressure and wasn't able to open the airtag. I'm not a weak person, yet can't seem to open the case to replace the battery. Has anyone else had this issue or how were they able to replace it?
