I can't log into iCloud from my PC using Chrome

When I try to log on to my icloud account from my PC using Crome I get a connection error. It says icloud encountered an error when trying to connect to the server. However, when I try to log on via my ipad, all is fine. I get the sign in page and all works smooth. Why not on my PC? I have successfully logged on to icloud from my PC many times in the past and now all of a sudden I get this error message. Any ideas as to why and how to fix the issue??

I checked all drivers and software for updates. Everything is up to date. I did the log out / log on process that didn't help. I powered down my PC and restarted it and that didn't help.

This issue has been going on for over a week. I've got the same issue you do. Apple has blamed everyone else for the problem. Try using Firefox. I have had luck with that, but all Chromium based browsers have issue. You might eventually can get connect using Chrome, but it will not be stable and utilities like Photos may fail.

This is a known issue that has occurred since August. It has something to do with an update made to the icloud app and/or the Intel Killer Network Service. Unticking Ipv6 helps solve this problem. So does unticking the Intel Killer network service in msconfig. But we imagine these are meant to stay ticked so this is just a workaround.

Apple needs to fix this with their icloud app. We are paying for this.

Thank you. I read the string and noted that it seemed to be a problem when folks were using thier wifi for connection and unclicking iPV6 worked to fix the issue. So, before unclicking from iPv6 on wifi, I tried connecting to my LAN connection and Poof!, I was able to connect to server and all was fine. But, when going back to wifi, problem still existed when trying to log on from PC. No problem at all when trying to connect from wifi with my ipad. So, I'm good for now working from my home LAN conection. I will try the steps provided in the link to see if I can get it to work when on wifi.

I must admit, I'm little surprised about the wild goose chase the Apple support folks gave everyone. It took a non-apple tech person to figure it out. Not a pretty story for Apple.

Hi TZing,

We understand that you are unable to sign in to your iCloud account on your PC, using Chrome. The following steps may be able to assist you:

"If you want to sign in to a third-party app but your password is rejected

If you want to access your iCloud information from a third-party app, you need to use an app-specific password. This helps protect your account by allowing you to sign in securely. Learn how to create and use app-specific passwords."

More details here: If you can't connect or sign in to iCloud

You can also try using another browser to see if you experience the same behavior. Also, iCloud for Windows may be a great option for you as well: Set up and use iCloud for Windows

We hope this helps.

Take care.
